Originally from Staten Island, New York, Amanda began her musical journey in the 4th grade when she picked up the saxophone as a student in the New York City Public Schools. Inspired by her Nonno, who played the saxophone throughout her childhood, she developed a deep passion for music early on. She is currently based in Union County, NJ, and Staten Island, NY, and has been teaching private music lessons since 2016. Amanda offers instruction in saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, and piano, working with students ranging from ages 5 to 85.
Amanda has been a dedicated public school music teacher in the Elizabeth Public Schools for four years, where she teaches students from kindergarten through 8th grade. Her classes include beginning band, symphonic band, jazz band, recorder, ukulele, and bucket drumming. She has also been a teacher in the district's Summer Arts Program, where she has taught high school concert band, middle school concert band, and beginner instrumentalists.
Amanda earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education with a concentration in jazz from Montclair State University in 2020. During her time at Montclair, she performed in various ensembles, including jazz band, jazz combo, symphonic band, vocal chorale, and small chamber groups. She was also a member of the NJMEA Collegiate Jazz Band. In 2019, Amanda had the opportunity to perform internationally with the MSU Vocal Accord in Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic.
Continuing her education, Amanda received her Master’s degree in Music Education from Montclair State University in 2024. During her graduate studies, she served as the Pep Band Coordinator, where she directed rehearsals and performances for the MSU Pep Band at football and basketball games.
In the summer of 2023, Amanda was the Jazz Band and Rock Band Director at STOKES Music Camp in Sandyston, New Jersey, where she arranged and led ensembles in learning improvisation, ensemble playing, and how to express their voice and personality through their instruments. Later that year, she volunteered in Rome, Italy, teaching English to children aged 4-9 through music, dialogue, and games.
Amanda is passionate about fostering a love of music in students of all ages and abilities. She believes that music education goes beyond learning notes and rhythms; it is about inspiring creativity, building confidence, and encouraging self-expression. Amanda is dedicated to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where each student can explore their individual musical interests and talents. She takes pride in helping students discover their unique musical voices and guiding them on their journey to becoming confident, well-rounded musicians who find joy and fulfillment in their musical pursuits.
